Winter in Paris
Paris round two! Stefan and I are aiming to go to Paris each season. We went this past fall and we just checked winter off the list! I was so excited to go back to Paris I could barely sleep the night before. Excitement coupled with nervousness about how Olivia would behave on the train ride as well as would she sleep while we were there!
We took the ICE train and Olivia didn’t cry the entire trip there. I packed a lot of snacks for her (gold fish, applesauce, apple cinnamon cheerios, animal crackers, cheese rice puffs) plus we always pick up some type of baguette sandwich for her to nibble on. We arrived in sunny Paris, I put Olivia in the LÍLLÉbaby carrier, we got an uber and headed straight to the hotel. For the first time ever Olivia fell asleep in the carrier on the car ride to Hotel Academie. The hotel was BEAUTIFUL! I had great expectations from pictures online, but couldn’t believe how gorgeous it was in person. There was a chandelier greeting us upon entry, purple and pink velvet furniture with gold fixtures and artwork surrounding us. It was a nice start to the trip when we walked in and felt like we were actually in Paris! The hotel room had hardwood floors too which I love!
We unpacked our luggage and headed out for lunch. This trip I came prepared with a list of places I wanted to go. The first place on my list was Cafe Charlot in the Marais district. We met Stefan’s Aunt Sonia there for lunch. Lunch was very tasty and we loved the area. Olivia ate eggs benedict and I ate a chicken caesar salad. We chatted over a glass of wine while Olivia flirted with the men behind us! After lunch we did a lot of site seeing and checked a few other places off my list: Carette, Ladurée and Pierre Hermé. We also went to Boutique yam ‘tcha which was on Stefan’s to do list. He saw this restaurant featured on Chef’s Table on Netflix. He wanted to try the bao buns. He ordered the one the show featured and let me have a bite. Well, I ended up eating the best part of the bun, the cherry! He was a little jealous! We plan to go back next time we are in Paris so he can experience how good it was! We had perfect weather both days we were in Paris. That evening for dinner we went back to our favorite crepe place for cheesy galettes! We were exhausted that evening and thankfully Olivia didn’t wake up too many times. She did not sleep in her pack n’play though!
The next day we started off with yet another place on my list, Eric Kayser. I read the blog Parisinfourmonths and she suggested this place for the best croissants and it did not disappoint! It was so good we went there the following day as well! They were super buttery and we also loved the raisin pastry! Yum! Throughout the day we did a lot of exploring via walking and ate lunch at Cafe Flore which was a suggestion from the blog Gal Meets Glam. That evening we went to see the Eiffel Tower sparkle and let Olivia enjoy the carousels! Olivia didn’t sleep well that night and I ended up sleeping on the bathroom floor, which happens a lot. I always end up sick in hotels! Stefan couldn’t convince me to get back in bed so he made me a bed on the floor which was sweet! Overall it was a great trip, but we were exhausted by the end of it! Olivia slept on me, in the carrier all but the last 30 minutes of our trip home. My back was killing meeee, but Mommy’s gotta do what Mommy’s gotta do, right?!
We vlogged our trip which you’ll be able to view on my YouTube channel, Mom With A Passport. The video will be up by Friday, February 24.
We are looking forward to visiting Paris again this summer!
